Empowering Change: CIP’s Training of Trainers in Amsterdam

In a dynamic world where creativity and innovation hold significant value, the Cultural InnoPreneur (CIP) recently organized a Training of Trainers course in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Bringing together 16 professionals from the cultural and education sectors, the course focused on the powerful combination of storytelling and design thinking as tools for driving social change. Over the span of four days, participants immersed themselves in a journey of learning, collaboration, and exploration.

The course began as participants delved into the social challenges faced by the community of Neuw West. Through visits and discussions with local NGOs, community projects, and museums, the attendees gained a deeper understanding of the area’s context and the pressing issues at hand. This initial phase set the stage for the subsequent activities, empowering the participants to apply their newly acquired knowledge and skills to effect positive change.

Following the introduction, the training course embraced the principles of design thinking. Participants engaged in a workshop that enabled them to tap into their creativity, adopt a human-centric approach to generate innovative ideas aimed at addressing the specific social challenges identified in Neuw West.

Participants worked collaboratively to develop practical and forward-thinking solutions. The integration of storytelling and design thinking allowed for the creation of prototypes that not only tackled the identified challenges but also inspiring imagination and action.

The course concluded with the presentation of two prototypes to local stakeholders. “New West Air bnb” explored a fresh approach to improve the touristic value of the area through community participation and co-creation. “Bureau Postjesweg Sparks” aimed to foster creativity and collaboration among Neuw West residents through cultural workshops and events in the neighbourhood while sustaining the community gallery Bureau Postjesweg.

The Training of Trainers course organized by CIP concluded with the participants showcasing their prototypes and sharing their journey with local stakeholders. The engaging presentations highlighted their dedication and newfound skills, inspiring stakeholders to consider innovative approaches to social challenges. The event served as a platform for exchange and collaboration, inspiring participants and stakeholders alike to consider fresh perspectives and embrace innovative approaches to addressing social challenges.
